New Library Opens for Cobb County, GA Residents
Metal Composite Material Shines
Cobb County, GA residents celebrated the opening of the new, North Cobb Regional Library in early September. Located in Kennesaw, GA, the 25,000-square-foot building replaces and consolidates the Acworth and Kennesaw public libraries that were built in the mid-1960's.
The new library includes creative spaces, a community room, study rooms, dedicated children and teen areas, an outdoor plaza for children, state-of-the-art technology, and a drive-up book return. The space has been hailed as a bright light in the community and for future generations by local officials. It is a contemporary facility that now serves two communities in creative and innocatvie ways - it's not just about books. The regional library has already broken records and has the highest material circulation of any library in the system.
In line with creative new spaces on the interior, the exerior of the building was designed with playful, angular sightlines, that are accentuated with Metal Composite Material panels in ALUCOBOND® PLUS Harvest Gold from 3A Composites. For the project, MillerClapperton fabricated 9,870 square feet of material and installed more than 300 panels. MillerClapperton is proud to be part of projects like this, that enhance our community.
