Highlands Sports Complex becomes First WELL-Certified Sports Facility in the United States
The Highlands Sports Complex is a cutting-edge 180,000-square-foot sports facility in Triadelphia, WV. The complex was designed to accommodate various indoor and outdoor events, including tournaments and specialized programs. Excitingly, the complex has also achieved a Silver Level WELL Building Certification, marking a historic milestone as the very first WELL-Certified Sports Facility in the United States! The certification incorporates ten concepts that ensure the Highlands Sports Complex's work "is enhanced by the built environment and its influence on occupant health is tied to equity and global health concepts, and is evidence-based, technically robust, customer-focused, and resilient."
The ten concepts are air, water, nourishment, light, sound, materials, movement, thermal comfort, mind, and community. The goal of the materials concept is "to reduce human exposure to hazardous building material ingredients through the restriction or elimination of compounds or products known to be toxic and the promotion of safer replacements." This prestigious certification is a testament to our unwavering commitment to meeting and exceeding all preconditions, with the Highlands Sports Complex achieving an exceptional 100% compliance rate.
